Texan dietitians exam for ‘Dietetic Doctor License’
A Texas dietitator who received a license to practice dietetics has become the first dietitarian licensed in the nation.
The Texas Board of Dietetic Examiners confirmed Thursday that Dr. Daniel O’Connell received the license, and the license holder has until June 15 to file a complaint with the state attorney general.
O’Connell said in a statement that he had been training for the exam for five years.
He said he was working as a dietitist for about three years before he received his license.
He also said that he and his wife have two young daughters and that he would be a great addition to the family.
“I am so grateful that I got this license and that I am able to offer my services in the health and wellness industry, particularly in the area of nutrition,” O’Connor said.
“As a registered dietician, I have an immense amount of experience and knowledge in the field, and I look forward to helping our clients make better health decisions,” he added.
O’-Connell is licensed by the Texas Board and registered with the Texas Medical Board.
He has received certification from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy and the Texas Commission on Dietetics.
The license was granted last month.
